I don't have a Spider yet, but am actively searching. The goal is to get something on the road for $3500 or less and have some fun with it. Further improvements can then come gradually over time. Am I being realistic? I'm in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. Any hints you can share would be most appreciated. John

Welcome John.
Good luck in your search. I think you can find a well sorted car for around that price. craigslist Vancouver has a couple of 79's that look good and I have a 80FI for a bit more than that. Carefull in your part of the world though, if they were used as a daily driver in the winter, I'd be surprised if there is still enough metal to keep the car together.Rust is a huge issue back east as it is in a Vancouver car, but if you can find one that was imported from the south, you might get lucky.
Hamilton eh, When are you going to get a NHL team? :P

OK, since posting a week ago, I've purchased a '75. Appears that someone has put some money into it. Nice body and paint job, solid underneath, new tires, interior is complete and in good condition, but I've bought it uncertified. Comes with a fiberglass hardtop in good shape.
