Post by 95gnv »

hello everyone my wife just recieved a 1980 fiat pinin farina 2000 from her father and I hope to get it running for recreational use. It needs alot of work and Im glad I found this forum to help me, because I dont know anything about fiats. Does anybody know where I can get a carb rebuild kit? or a new carb? It has one but it was in the trunk.

Welcome. You are in for some fun.

Here is a short list of some suppliers:

fiatparts.com
esportscarparts.com
international-auto.com
vickauto.com
allisonsautomotive.com

No particular order and there are probably others out there. Some of these have printed catalogs which I have found helpful.

Good luck.

Thanks that should get me started. Im going to get the catalogs and go one step at a time. It looks like im going to be correcting a lot of previous "repairs". My wifes' cousin says that FIAT stands for Fix It Again Tito, My father in laws middle name is tito.

welcome and good luck with the car. Tell your wife's cousin that it really means First In A Turn, or Fast Italian Automotive Toy.
Since the carb is in the trunk, do you know if the engine runs? If it's been sitting a long time, you may want to do some preparation before trying to start it

The car has spent the last 3 years in her dads garage, before that it was running fine. After his son was born her dad just didnt have the time to finish working on it. So Ill pick up where he left off and try to get it going again. Ive driven it before and really enjoyed it, I want to teach my daughter to drive stick with it. she's only 10 rightnow so I have time to do it right.

Congrats and welcome.

My first Fiat was an '80 Spider. We've since doubled that population at this house with my wife acquiring a '78 this past spring.

Be careful, they grow on you.

I agree with Mark on the suppliers except one...

esportscarparts.com

This is another front site for Caribou Imports...

Here is a list of the other sites he operates, and if you search all the other car forums you will fine the same problems..

http://www.Spider2000.com
http://www.850Spider.com
http://www.AlfaSpider.cc
http://www.914parts.direct.at
http://www.OpelGTparts.direct.at
http://www.convertible.top.ms
http://www.SportsCarConverters.com

This guy / Business is NOT TO BE TRUSTED...

I can personally vouch for this as I lost over $550 to this guy, he takes orders only by phone, stating the parts are in stock.
When in fact he does not, and If he cant get them, he keeps telling stories about they are on the way, or shippment is back ordered untill your time has expired on your refund. Then he will stop communicating with you.
and basicly your screwed...

Check with the LABBB and search Caribou Imports, he has had 100's of complaints and no one ever gets a satisfactory responce or refund.

The BBB rates him and his business a F...
Check here for your self...

http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Busin ... D=13109541

When I filed my complaint with the BBB on him at that time there were over 100 unanswered complaints on him.

I wish I would have know this before I got screwed, but IAP and Vicks came through and saved the day.

You can ask anyone of the Fiat parts places about Caribou and they will verify this as well, he does not have a good rep at all...
In fact he has been suspended and his account revoked on Ebay as well becacause of the number of complaints and people he has ripped off...

Sorry if this seems like a flame job, but anyone new to the Fiat club should know, and any information is good information,..

And welcome to the club.
