2L swap question- motor mount height

Post by TulsaSpider »

Hi guys. I bought new motor mounts for my 78. I am building a performance 2L for it. On previous threads I see where the 2L may rub against the crossmember and that new motor mounts should be used and even shimmed up a bit so my question is how much should they be shimmed up?
Thanks
Clark

Ive swapped a 2 liter motor into a 1438 70 and a 1608 71 with no issues so far. I would imagine there isnt much space between the two pieces. But no issues here.

But Why ? A good 1608 with a pair of factory twin choke webers will run the pants off a 2 litre. You can drive then to 7000 revs in all gears right up thru the box.
I've driven one, a factory standard with hard-top ( all-be-it european spec, on leaded 100 octane), some years ago, to just nudging 125mph or 200kph.
