1980 Fiat Spider 2000 FI runnig rich?

Post by sigkadetm »

I recently rebuilt my 1980 Fiat Spider 2000 FI engine. She started up fine adjusted the timing and idle . After running for awhile I noticed that black carbon was coming out of the exhaust. I pulled the spark plugs and noticed a fluffy carbon deposits and also noticed the O2 sensor light was on. This is telling me it is running rich. Any suggestions on what to do to remedy this problem?

No, the light is telling you it's time to replace your O2 sensor which will allow the ECU to correct the rich mixture.
