IAP FRONT SWAY BAR INSTALLATION

Post by NJFIAT1981 »

Purchased the IAP Front sway bar along with all new front end components. Everything else went on fine except the IAP front sway bar. The suspension shop said they can't get it to fit. Any suggestions or ideas on how to get this bar installed? Thanks, George

I am assuming it is the bigger bar. Did you purchase the mounting brackets and bushings to go with it?

George, I used C-clamps to get the bar into the brackets on the lower control arms. It is a big pain because that bar is not forgiving, but I managed to do it by myself. Eventually, you will find the stress on the original studs is going to be too much. I found this out at 2007 FFO when I was ready to autocross it. Before I left the parking lot, the swaybar had popped the studs from one side and bent the bracket. I went to an autoparts store and picked up new brackets from the HELP! section. The brackets need to be bent to match that of the original brackets and you need to remove the studs and install grade 8 bolts.
