aux air valve cross reference

Post by backyardbill »

I am trying to source na AAV, auxillary air valve, for my 1980 FI spider. Is the one on this car used on other vehicles like VW, Mercedes, BMW, etc. A cross reference would be nice. Thanks.

I got one from a vw type1 which i think also works on the rabbit works great 2 years in.

Bought it on ebay here is something that should work:

Bosch 0280 1401 45

a bit high for the valve used got mine for $25 shipped. Worse case go on a forum for the older beetles with the L-jet system and ask there. Reference numbers you can use the one you have and input it into ebay or a search engine i am sure you will find something.

People might use different names for the valve such as Auxiliary valve, idle air valve, idle valve, air valve, idle compensator

even though they look the same, there are some different operating parameters for the valves. Substituting one from another make could cause the cold idle to be incorrect
