Silver Fiat Spider 2000

Post by midnightguitarist »

New member who had his old 1980 Fiat partially restored. The upholstery and dash were completely redone. I just need to fix a few problems until it runs great. Maybe one of the cylinders isn't compressing properly and a busted manifold gasket. I even replaced the folding top from its worn cream color to a new rich black and replaced the steering wheel. There are some minor issues like poor paint job and exhaust system. It still has the original 14" Iron Cross alloy wheels and and just needs another powder coat. I've had it for five years working on it from time to time. I live in Savannah, GA along with my father, Radiopilot, whom got himself a Red Fiat which he also his worked on and partially restored. I've been helping him from time to time on his Fiat as well.

Yes, my son's Spider has developed a small symptom on the head gasket and currently need to remove the head and install a new head gasket... trying to find time to do this is a bear for me with everything else... my plate is full at this time... so the car sits in the garage till Thanksgiving weekend to do some dirty work.

Pics can be seen on the FLU forum. :D

Cheers,

Nick

Hey Nick! Good seeing ya. Why don't you try setting a date for a tech day. There seems to be plenty of good ole GA boys around and it would be a learning experience as well as a good reason for a Fiat gathering.

Denise... You are a smart woman indeed... that's a great idea and to follow through this would be a great idea to get 'tech days' at regular intervals at selected occasions where everyone within the area can bring their cars and everyone can learn something or two and keeps the cars on the road, it could also be a swap meet type gathering as well.

I will keep this in mind as Thanksgiving weekend comes around I'll give a shout out. :D

In the mean time the car sits in the garage and less on the road waiting for someone to total it (my son needs more time at the wheel so I gave him my Nissan Xterra it's a safer vehicle for now. )

Cheers,

Nick
