I have a bone stock 1876 124 and am wondering if anyone would foresee a issue with bolting on a 36ADL carb? Basically do you think this would overload the car? Any advice is appreciated?

Re: 32ADFA Vs 36ADL
I believe that it should work out quite nicely. The 1.8 motor in your (stock '76) car should have the "Single Plane" manifold, which allows the use of mechanically operated secondary barrels like the ADL has. the 1.8 also has the water plumbing for the ADL's water choke. I've read that the weber 38 series of carbs will bog down the spider a bit on the low end, but if driven with care they can be very sporty. 36mm is about max for a stock Spider for good full-range power.
Fiat expert/enthusiast Brad Artigue has written a well known, and generally accepted article on Fiat carburetors. It's worth a googling to find it. I've got it saved, and I'll send it to you if you can't find it elsewhere. The following is what he says about the 36ADL in the Spider:
Similar to the ADF series in most respects, the ADL was designed for the Lancia Gamma 1995cc and
2800cc cars (neither of which were sold in the U.S.A.) Hard to find, the ADL series can add serious
performance where a single-carb is required. ADL carburetors, like the ADF, have a water-activated
automatic choke.
Available new (but rare!) and much easier to find in Europe than in the U.S.. The 36ADL is a remendous
performance increase over stock. To be truly effective you need to increase the compression in your
engine to at least 8.9:1 and possibly add higher lift/duration camshafts. I ran a 36ADL on a stock
compression 2 liter engine with an 1800 head and stock cams with wonderful results.
Let us know how it works out for you, k?

With a stock engine it may be too much, you will need some modifications. However being a progressive carb vs a synchronous carb it will be easier to gradually step into the pedal without bogging it down. Here is a good write up:

another single carb, although it may be hard to find is the 40 dfi, originaly on the ferrari dino, maybe also the fiat dino. i have one of those and love what it does to the 124. minor intake opening modifications are necessary for the larger butterflys. but wow. all i can say.personaly i like it better than the 2 x 40idf's, eventhough i will probably go with the idf's on my 1608 spider.
