Hello All,
I just was given a 77 Spider from my sister. It is in great shape, little rust. Have a set of Scorpian wheels on car, with OE alloys as well. I don't have the car yet, but will be picking it up in a week or so. I don't know too much about the service history, but the car runs very well. My initial concerns are:
Mechanical
- Check out suspension, tie rod ends, bushings, ball joints etc
- Wheel bearings. Brother in law said they may need replacing soon.
- Timing belt. All sorts of mayhem if that goes. I'm pretty handy but I've never done one before.
- Emissions remove?
- Its got a cat, but since carbed it must not have O2 sensor. Think it may have a small exhaust leak, maybe thinking of headers/perf exhaust/cat remove. Not sure what fits my year of car.
- Remove air pump. Need to find out the rules in MA.

Interior
- Its light blue and definitely not my taste, but in good shape. Wondering about some of the vinyl dying products.
- Non working oil pressure/clock.
- Windshield looks cloudy around the edges, never seen that before. Not sure if will need to be replaced.

Exterior
- Not sure what to make of the tube bumpers. Not sure if I can get away with none in MA.
- A bit of rust below front turnsignals, should be easy to fix. Anything I can do about protecting inner fenders?

I probably will be posting some questions to the different subsections of the forum. Lots of very knowledgeable folk post to the board.

Hey G, welcome to the forum. You're sister must love you a lot, to let you have such a great car for free.
You'll need to post pics of your car, I'm curious what exterior color is going with the blue interior.

Its a red car. She is moving to FLA and needs a convertible with AC. Not sure what color the top is, but the cover is light blue as well as the rest of the interior, door panels etc. There is some sort of vinyl dye/paint I have read about, but it sounds too good to be true and you know what they say about that...

Welcome! SEM makes a pretty good vinyl dye, clean it with isopropyl alchohol first. It works pretty good for low wear areas, but will wear thru on seats and armrests.
