New Owner - '77 Spider

Post by cbmeadors »

Hi all- I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a proud owner of a 'new' (to me) '77 Spider which is desperately in need of some TLC. I'm in process of trying to get her roadworthy over the next few weeks, followed thereafter by some as yet undecided upgrades. Fortunately- I live in Fort Worth, TX so I am only a sort drive away from Vick Autosports. I am already a regular over there for my other car ('72 Alfa GTV), but with the addition of the Fiat, I should probably just plan on swinging buy each day after work.

I'm looking forward to the project and I'll be hounding you all for advice in the near future-

Thanks- Christopher

Hi Christopher, sorry for the belated welcome. I usually only get home on the weekends, so that's my excuse.
You're fortunate living close to Vick's, but once you get one of these cars sorted out you'll just be stopping by to visit.
We would like to see your car, how about some pics?

Welcome to the Fiat Spider forum and the Vick's Club. LOL

I have a '80 124 and my husband has a '65 Alfa Giulietta that he bought new in Italy. We just had Vick's go over my 124 and next to visit Vick's is the Alfa. Fine people that are very conscientious about their work.

I'm driving my car back to Springfield Mo from the Dallas area for the Veterans Day Parade in November so I wanted to be sure it was road worthy.

At last- I had time to actually sit down and figure out how to post pictures. This was the car in the condition I found it. Image

Outside is a pretty badly burned Red paint- job, but the engine bay is a nice orange. Definitely in need of some TLC, but I look forward to the challenge. Now she's sitting in my driveway while I work though the issues.

Christopher,

I also have a'77 Spider, and until June I also had a '74 GTV. Unfortunately, the GTV was rear ended and was totaled. I really miss that car. It was a great car for long, fast drives and an occasional track day. The Spider isn't quite as fast or quite as refined but I always have more fun in it, probably because its a convertible. That and the fact my wife loves the Spider. Like yours, mine was a little rough cosmetically but mechanically was pretty sound. And my engine compartment is yellow. Somewhere along the way, someone replaced the front clip.

Good luck with the car. The folks here on the forum have helped me a lot with working through a few problems with my Spider. Looks great.
