First restoration project........excited

Post by redfiat2000 »

Hallo to all members. We live in Pretoria, South Afrcia. I bought my wife a 1980 Spider 2000 and have started the restoration process. If anyone has any advice, we are all ears. The car is now totally stripped and just consists of the body on the chassis. We have packaged and marked each component with all the screws etc so that the rebuild will be methodical and easier. The interior (seats, doorpanels, console are all already at the upholsterer for revamp.

Could anyone tell me where I could find the original mags for this car as it has aftermarket TSW's on and we want to restore it to 'original' state.

Thanks and please send any info you think we may need.

regards

Hi and welcome.
I'm doing the same. You could check out my post for some thought. "More Progress"
There are a lot of people here with tons of advice. Too many to mention.
If your going to redo your seats. You'll want to make sure they're square first. Then possibly weld in some support because they all eventually lean one way or another. Also make sure they are rust free and coated with a rust prohibitor. So much moisture gets in them and they rust faster than the car. Check out a rust prohibitor called "Master series" It is an awesome product. POR 15 is another.
Looking forward to pic's. :P

Welcome to the forum! My husband was able to visit your country a few years ago to set up a PGA President's Cup or World Cup Tour (can't remember which) and absolutely loved it. He said the people there were the nicest he'd ever met anywhere.
As for your wheels, were they just the steel wheels with a painted design?
