Interior, Consoles and Dash

Post by FiatJB »

Hi all
Need a bit of help. I have owned many 124/2000's however I recently acquired an 83 Spider. Darnest thing is I can not figure out how to remove the upper center console to get to the radio and parts behind. I know there are the screws down by the heat vents. A screw on each side top, (glove compartment) but someone mentioned there is a stud behind somewhere. I can find it. Any help? The radio is shot and without a face plate so it looks horrible. The question is: Where are all the screws located to remove the upper center console from a 1983 Pinan Farina Spider.
Thanks
John

First, welcome to the forum. Sorry I can't help you but there is a guy here, aka WACHUKO, that used to post a lot but has not lately that dismantled an 83 dash from a parts car and put it in another car. You could search "members" and PM him for some advice. You might also want to look through his posts for information, he had a TON of pictures of his progress.

Good luck,
Jeff

Thanks for your referral. I did it last nite, all is well now. After much mirror work, a little prying and eyeing and quite a few scratchs and dings on my hands I was able to locate all the mounting screws. Gotta tell you there are some strange mounting locations. Compared to pre 82 models it was a bear. But now I am smiling, radio is out, I can really clean all the vinyl . Life is good
I am now a self proclaimed low level expert at removing any center console on a Spider as I have at one time or another removed them from each of my 12 spiders over the years
