Remove EGR

Post by dcarey »

I am in a state that does not inspect for emmissions on '70s era cars. I have a 1978 Spider and intend to remove the EGR and the air compressor system but keep the evaporation cannister.

Does anyone have a task list for how to proceed?

pretty straightforward. You need 12mm x 1.25 plugs for the air injection rail. The egr tube in the intake has an allen inside of the first allen plug you'll remove. The hard part is finding a plug for the intake manifold. If you emission stuff is still working, consider offering it for sale. Emission states like Calif still require those parts

Thanks. The Weber 32 ADFA has around 8 lines in addition to the fuel supply and return. Does anyone have a schematic or explanation of which ones I can blank off?
