Re: Cutting Springs
Anyone have pictures or measurements showing how much their car was lowered by cutting two coils in the front and one in the back?

Re: Cutting Springs
Mine lowered 2" in front and 1" in back. here are some pics of my car today. Someone also requested pics of the control arms so here they are as well. I advise measuring before to see if there is a difference. Mine has a 1" difference from pass to driver's so I need to go back in and level it out, lesson learned!

Re: Cutting Springs
I'm wondering on how you would actually know how the car is going to sit with the springs unless your talking about you should have measured them before you took them off. I all ready have mine off.

Re: Cutting Springs
Thanks for the pics, Clark. I'm thinking of cutting a coil or two for a 1978 Lemons racecar so these pics help. One question though. Is the right control arm angled up or is that just the camera angle?
Does anyone know if the spindle on the early cars are the same as the later models?

Re: Cutting Springs
for best handling, the lower control arm should be parallel to the ground. If it's angled up from the bushing to the ball joint, it's too low

Re: Cutting Springs
I don't know if this picture helps?
This is with around a half a link cut off both front & rear. I ordered stock springs from Vicks for the front & back and we painted them for fun. I don't believe they were any different from the front vs. the rear as they all looked the same and arrived non-labeled. They should have very stiff suspension so they can corner correctly, I'm not a fan of mushy shocks. I already drive a new american car for work that I call "the white marshmallow". When I go over the many railroad tracks by my house, the Pininfarina does not move.
Keep in mind that I have the 14" wheels.
Without engine, tranny, etc. We used heavy sacks and a lift to eyeball the engine weight. It might not be perfectly even, but it's close enough. I don't think we could go any lower as the whole exhaust system hangs really low. I would imagine that why my car might have sat up a bit high. When I got it the first thing I noticed was that it sat a bit higher than my LE.
