Not positive pressure but negative pressure, the hose wall should be strong enough not to collapse.... The original stuff should work as gravity helps when direct to the pump but sucking through a filter.... not sure if that would make any difference. I am just going by memory(which aint the best!). My fuel line may be 7/16 or even 1/2.From the pump it is all 5/16'',and I used all f.i. hose.

I contacted WIX requesting a fuel filter to use before the FI fuel pump for my 1981 Spider. They recommended Wix #33248. It has 1/2" nipples and very low restriction metal canister. I am sure there are many that will work. A 12mm ID hose is 0.472441 of an inch or about 0.028 of an inch smaller that 1/2 (0.50000) inch. Warming the hose and lubricating the filter nipple with a grease should make for easy install of 1/2 inch nipple in 12 mm hose. Also a 1/2 inch hose should fit 12 nipple tight enough that when clamped ther are no leaks.
