I am using Jason Miller's brackets, purchased from AR. They line up beautifully, look great and would be just fine except for the pulley. I visited the machine shop today and he feels confident that we can do a little work on this pulley and it will work.
Beek's idea of moving the brackets, although a good thought, would be very difficult because of the stud location in the block.
I'll revisit that idea if the pulley reengineering doesn't work out.
On the bright side, my gapless rings from TotalSeal showed up today so I can finish building the bottom end this weekend and get the thing on my cart.

I also delivered my wheel adapters, a front hub, and a rim, to the machinist today. He will machine the adapters for hub centric rings.

So, here is the compromise...
We are shaving the rear tab on the lower mount and spacing the alternator forward .25, then spacing the pulley forward on the shaft .25. This will get me right where I need to be. Everything is at the machine shop getting sorted so I went back to building the bottom end.

I got the rings and bearings all organized and on the pistons and into the block

Torqued down my rod bearings and dialed in true TDC

And marked my crank pulley.

Everything rolls over very smoothly so I am pleased.

I moved on to oil pump, breather tube and oil pan.

Tomorrow I hope to get it bolted up to the transmission.

All rusty scrappy jokes aside Jim, I highly doubt you will be jealous of anyone once Beek gets your motor done!

Where you hanging from the rafters to get the overhead shot?

Post is way too long to look through, but did you use a lightened flywheel?

Thanks B!!
John,
I can't remember if I specified it anyway so no point in rolling back through...
Here's the run down on the build:
Block:
4.5mm dome 84.4 bore pistons
TotalSeal second ring set
Aluminum pulleys
Lightened steel flywheel
Luk clutch set
And of course, new rod and main bearings etc.
Head:
42-82/82-42 cams
43/37.5 stainless valves
All guides, seals etc. upgraded
Isky triple springs
Jason's adjustable all aluminum cam pulleys
Ported by SouthLakeMachine (Beek)
Intake:
Cast aluminum, from Pierce, through AR, with dual weber 44s
Ported for 44s and matched to head by Beek as well
custom cold air intake from lower front valance
Exhaust:
4-2-1 aftermarket (not sure who's as it was on the car) into custom mandrel bent 2 1/2" pipe with magnaflow center muffler and DC rear muffler, both free flow.
Ignition:
95amp alt
Gear reduction starter
Stock electronic ignition with MSD
Magnecor Comp wires
NGK plugs

It all sounds just awesome to me, but I've been dreaming about it for a long time! :D
