Another day cleaning bits...
It was everything I hand in me the bust the ball joint nuts loose but I finally got it down to these
Then, dreaming about a media blast cabinet, I got the parts cleaned up.
And painted everything.
I'm pretty happy with the results and it didn't take too long. Sometimes I think you spend more time getting sand (media) out of everything then just wire brushing etc.

Somebody is going to call me cheap but this doesn't leak
So I beat it into submission and cleaned the paint off
And used high heat aluminum filler
Short of going with a winged sump, this will be perfect.
Call me cheap, I can take it!

I straightened my pan as best I could and used ultra-glass filler. Painted it with epoxy primer and black Imron 10 years ago. It has seen about 40,000 miles and it still looks good.
There is a fine line between cheap and clever. LOL

@SoFlaFiat: I gotta say I sort of agree with Jim, "don't start cutting corners". Your restoration is amazing! Can't wait to see the end result. Hope you post a video of startup.

I think I'll make a decision at the end of the day, when I have a red oil pan. The pan is really in pretty good shape, with all the proper baffles and tray so really I'd just be wasting money to not use it.
Pete, I promise (assuming nothing explodes
) to post video of start up day.

Keep It....
It's no longer cheap.... now it's cheap AND red!
Also - without you, VHT and/or Duplicolor would go out of business right?

Good point!!
Alright, keeping it!
Next baby step:
Finish the heim joints on my front sway bar.
M original layout was not so great and I had to cut my straps back loose.
Then I went about modifying the lower a arm
And adding an outside bracket
Now I have to weld it all back together and repaint everything.

Nice work - and you'll be happier that you took the time to do this than not.
Yellow would work...
I think it's no coincidence that during the period that you've been working on this project, the share price of Sherwin-Williams (Duplicolor's parent) have increased significantly...
