Thanks Alvon,as I have calmed down and stepped back a bit I have begun to form a plan.I realyy need to concentrate on the 82.It starts with a touch of the key(thats what 82's do :D ),so I cant help but feel it isnt a tragic problem. It will run on 4 cyl intermittently, then back to 3.Odd...but I am taking it to a shop that will troubleshoot it.And hey,if I dont have it for FFO I will ride with you in Denises X19.We can send Maureen and Rosemarie off shopping
I really would like to find a good home for the 76,someone who wants to finish the project.I have some interested folks,so here's hoping. If not,I would try to find another motor, but that will be way down the road.I wont part it out,the car deserves better.
Beek,pm sent.I apologize for not responding before.I didnt see the pm you sent.I had several that day and missed it.

Thanks,Jaime...get me in more trouble :wink:I have already been threatend with a butt kicking from Ohio, and a certain North Carolina girl threatened to divorce me as her 'Fiat husband' for mentioning the 'M' word. That blue 91 MX-5 in Savanah looks pretty good though.Hmmmmm

Craig - Consider this another threat of butt-kicking! You know you can fix any problem with the '82 and the compression/leak-down is the right place to start. If it's only a valve spring, you'll be at FFO no problem. And remember all the snow you had this past winter? You'd have plenty of time to rebuild the engine in the '76 if we get a repeat -think what you'd learn in the process! Hang in there and good luck with the diagnosis.

So I've skimmed over this thread and unless I missed it, there's a very legitimate option that's missing:

Maybe take it to a mechanic?

It might sound emasculating, but I've done it more than once after being frustrated by my cars, and I still like girls & whatnot... Just a thought.

Yeah, you did miss that part :D I have done all I can do,and it is headed ther today.I am out of any other options(short of an 'accidental' fire),and will let a professional take over.I am pretty sure it is valvetrain related.
