Re: Transmission Killer
Can we un-hijack this thread and find out what happened to the transmission? Leeputmanjr, did you figure it out?

Re: Transmission Killer
Lee has 2 used trannies. It appears that a syncro and its retaining springs failed. Info on Mira...
Re: Transmission Killer
...I actually have THREE used transmissions!
It seems that the parts that get worn in one get worn in ALL!
the best of the lot was the one from Bouse's parts-car, but it has a bent 3-4 shift fork. (Mike, think we did that when we shoved the shifter handle through the driveshaft tunnel?)
Am now looking at the rebuild kit sold on Performance Fiat. Anyone know if these are the 'good' (Italian) bearings & synchros, or are these the 'junk' (Chinese) ones?
Man, I can't tell you how frustrating it is to have a car for 18 months, get it functional for the first time in 32 years, and yet only be able to drive it 6.5 miles. Argh!
Well, I'll get to know her driving habits in the spring, I suppose!

Re: Transmission Killer
Lee, call Val at Performance and ask him. He'll tell ya.
I hope putting the new one in will be easier than us taking the old one out!

Re: Transmission Killer
I've got that rebuild kit in my garage right now, no China parts, Russian. Unfortunally, I won't know about the quality for awhile, the pending 2nd home purchase is messing up my winter plans and zapping all my dough. Hopefully it will be worth it in the end.

Trey, I guess you wont be russian to install the parts anytime soon, forget the second home, what you need is a second garage.

Ya, but it comes attached to a house! Lots of room to build my dream shop, someday.
