Im actually getting restless waiting for an intake manifold gasket from IAP. It the only part keeping me from having a running car. I ordered it 3 weeks ago and it was backordered. I think I will just have to purchase it else where because I really want to handle my new knob....

Hope it works for you. I didnt get the thread hole perfectly straight. I did the same thing on mine...apparently I am just drunk while I drill or something...but I just spun mine around till the angle it was at was correct feeling in my hand

well, it fits just fine... new camera takes some getting used to. and, did ya know that not every device will download from a 16gigbite chip? who knew? pictures soon. i am in Columbus OHIO at the Italian Gathering (tomorrow). expect to see millions of dollars worth of Italian metal art.

Well Mike, I guess it looks like the custom knob idea is out now that you have that cool cedar one. I still like the white one with the spider on it.

I had to start over with a new one because the one I was working on before cracked right down the center while I was working on it. I think this one looks nicer though anyway. I just need to let it dry out for a few days, drill the hole and put in the thread.

Great job carving that out by hand.
One way to stop the wood splitting is to make the knob out of laminated layers of your chosen timber. This one was made from a local wattle (Acacia), but I cheated and used the lathe. The same timber can be seen on the console and behind the speaker grill - the speakers are in the footwell side panels

I do like it, but I it struck me that in that last pic ,with the shift boot up to its neck, that it looks like some sort of little alien in a long cloak
