I can't answer the question. both the '78 and the '80 here at the house have steel lines running inside the cabin feeding the carburetors. and both have return lines running thru the drive shaft tunnel.
why they all don't run thru the tunnel is too perplexing for me to understand.
when they switched is not in my data-banks..doink doink

A catastrophic donut failure could cause the driveshaft to shear those lines, ruining one's day. Maybe they figured this was a more likely event than a really big crash?

Replacing the in-cabin fuel lines is much fun!!! specially from bulk line.

The rust doesn't look too bad, how is the undercarriage? I'l bet some rubbing compound and elbow grease will make a big difference.

He brought the car by my house after picking it up in Dallas, it has a lot of the same problems mine had after sitting for several years however I would not be surprised if this car is on the road in three or four months. The undercarrage appears to be very solid, and the pictures make it look a lot rougher than it really is. Johnny did a good job finding this one and it will be a project that will bring many hours of enjoyment.

I looked at several on Craigslist and stumbled on this one for a deal I could not refuse. I need a daily driver. That is my goal. As my best friend said the car is in rely good condition for setting up for 5 years. The frame and supports are in good condition. No rust. Typical oil pan dents though, but no holes. Rear sway bar has a big ding. Not sure what this will do to handling. The surface rust is fixable with a little effort and FG. Maybe some lead, don't know yet. A project to do when money is short for parts. Floors are OK. Will look closer when I take the interior out to inspect. Needs a new dash cap. You just touch the paint and it rubs off red, so a good buffing will be in order befor the expence of a repaint. It will take time but hope to ride soon.
