I spent most of the day trying to clean 30+ years of dirt from the car. I removed the seats and centre console, took out the carpets and padding and tried to take some of that tar crap off the inner floor pans. I then gave the car a good vaccuuming to try and get some of the dirt out. The hole in the driver's rear floor pan is pretty much directly under the outside seat rail. Hopefully a patch will suffice. I looked at the inner rocker area and it is still solid. I found a bunch of broken glass in the area while vaccuuming, so I assume the window was broken at some point, hence the rust. I took some photos and posted them here. http://s285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60 ... %20Spider/

I adjusted the float on the carb and it made the car run much better. I think it still needs to be adjusted for mixture, but that will come later. At least I got to drive it around the block.

It actually looks like a really solid car. The body is remarkably clean, looks like it only needs minimal body work, and the top looks great. I think you have a winner there.

Thanks. Other than being incredibly dirty, the car is pretty solid. It isn't rust-free but that is tough to find with any 30+ year old car. My plan is to work on the body over the winter and get it ready to paint. I think I will lose the bumpers and install one of those turn-signal kits in place. Less weight, cleaner lines. Other than that, I plan to keep the modifications to a minimum. I want to get it back on the road and worry about tinkering during our long, cold winters.
