I too, installed a Spal fan equal in size to the stock one. The only reason for the mod was to save weight and make things less cluttered under the hood. I trimmed down the stock fan mount and put the Spal in it. Wiring was so simple. Just pushed the two wires out of the stock plug and the two Spal connectors fit right in. No issues so far, but then again, the stock fan worked just fine and looked fine because it had been polished and painted. And I run a highly modified motor. So if your cooling system is working fine there should be no issues. If ever there is a need for more cooling, which I doubt, I could install a small pusher in front of the rad. I did this on my 68 1438 car. The stock fan is driven off the water pump. When it died we put a small pusher in front of the rad and never had any cooling issues.
