Calif cars had a catalyst, and the exhaust ran down the right side of the car, Fed cars were non-catalyst and still had the early exhaust in the middle. The non-cat cars had a sticker at the top of the left door jamb that said "non catalyst". I believe the cars were all built with the brackets welded to the floor pan whether they were Calif or Fed
