I'll track down the link and post.
Is it this one. I book marked this article a little while ago, after Craig's last non-starting adventure.

That is the link,Abey.Richard sent it to me,also. The problem is I cant find the Audi part.If I had something that I knew would work,I would install it in a second.
Beek(thanks again) sent me a ebay link to a new Bosch fuel pump.It was for Volvos, but all Euro cars with FI in that era used that same pump.I got the last one foe $105 w/ free ship. That is a good deal for those pumps.I have seen them for $250+ http://www.ebay.com/itm/BOSCH-69593-Ele ... f1&vxp=mtr

I found the filter listed at NAPA & Discount Auto. They may have to sip it from the warehouse. I can't find the AUDI part either.

Thanks Abey! The tutorial I have from Richard was older and didnt have the newer part numbers, just the Audi number. It looks like he re-wrote and updated for dcfiats.I ordered a new Bosch pump and will put one of these inline when I install it.Thanks again,

I tried ordering the filter from Napa but it's been discontinued even though it shows up on their site. The discountautopart site appears to have them in stock, but I called and they don't have it. And I haven't had any luck finding it anywhere else.

We may have to do some investigating and come up with another filter/strainer that will fit inline.

I will cross reference the numbers at Oreilly and Autozone today.I am on a mission..I dont want to screw up a brand new Bosch pump!!I bought my ElCheapo pump at Autozone, and it is still under warranty. They replaced it with no question. So,I now have a brand new ElCrappo to add to my fuel pump collection.

I sent an email to Beck/Arnley asking for help and this is what I got back.

"Hello Giulio,

Thank you for inquiring about BeckArnley products. Unfortunately, we do not have any stocks on this part number. Have a great day!

Thanks,

Cindy"

sorry I did not get one, I just know (based on what they told me and a little searching online today) that they do exist. That being said I made my inquiry based on a FI car with 5/16 (8mm) fuel line

Thanks Jay.

They're not translucent, but they will work.

The tech from Jegs wrote me back and recommended this: http://www.jegs.com/i/Earl%26%23039%3Bs ... 3/10002/-1.

It's more expensive, but has a washable filter. It states that it is 30 microns and is also available in 80 microns, but I don't know how fine the screens would be from those numbers before I research it. The spec says it's good for post fuel pump applications.

Giulio, would they be ok for pre fuel pump use? That is my main concern,as you could easily ruin the pump if it restricts too much fuel or internally collapses.I cross referenced all those numbers from Richards tutorial at Autozone and OReilly...no luck! The Fram number works, but the picture shows a screw on type filter.

I don't know for sure Craig. I took the liberty of sending what we found to Richard to get his thoughts on it, including this option that was sent to me from Viking (http://www.vikingimportsnc.com/) a local international parts place someone suggested. I don't know how fine of a filter it has.

Image

We'll find something. Although I do like the idea of having a clear or translucent body so we could physically see the state of the filter.

That one you have pictured there is a readily available universal inline.I would be worried that it might collapse with the presure of a high pressure f.i. pump pulling fuel thru it? Those Earls filters from Jegs would probably be ok,and being replaceable would be great. My thoughts are that the filter media doesnt have to be very fine. The idea is to keep larger debris from getting to the pump.I am not going to put the new pump in,until I have something in front of it.Just my $.02.Hopefully,Richard will get back with his thoughts
Craig
ps...on second look at the one the Jegs tech reccomended,it seems to be for carb vehicles. I am going to see if I can find one of the Fleetguard that Jay found. The description seems to be exactly what we need.I will cross it at Zone and Oreilly today

The 'Fleetguard'' that Jay found is readily available under the Wix number 33270 at Oreillys.I am picking one up today. It is a pre pump strainer that is made for big rigs,ie Caterpillar,Cummins,etc...Should not cut fuel flow but will keep debris from passing thru the pump.I cant find any of the others!
