Ignition switch wires
Re: Ignition switch wires
Here is a 75' diagram that had colors in Italian that I re-wrote in English...(for whatever it's worth)...and, of course, this doesn't have the green/black and grey wires!

Re: Ignition switch wires
This is AWESOME! Thanks so much.
Re: Ignition switch wires
I confirm that green/black and grey go to terminal 16 at the back of ignition switch.
Terminal 16 is hot at the same time as terminal 50 which goes to the starter.

This link may be helpful too. I used it to rebuild my switch, but it provides good info on how the wiring works and is set up.

Re: Ignition switch wires
I have a similar set up (new car to me and I'm trying to figure things out),,,but I have a black wire that is disconnected and no other available terminals,,,however,my green black and grey wire which plugs into switch also has a yellow wire spliced with the black n grey wires and the yellow splice also plugs into back of switch,,,,,what do I do?

Re: Ignition switch wires
Do you have a wiring schematic? They are available online, here, at FiatSpider on Facebook, and mirafiori.com.

Re: Ignition switch wires
I have a few schematics. My set up does not make sense though. This is a new car to me so I am presently trying to get it running. My ignition switch does not have the black wire connected. I think the black wire is for the alternator is it not ? I'm sure this black wire has to be connected, although there is not another post available to connect it. Also,as I mentioned before, I have a green/black and grey wire connected together But it has a yellow wire spliced into it with its own connector. Both the green/black and grey and the yellow wire are connected to the switch. I tested it out with the ignition on the "on" position and it seems to control the fuel pump in the trunk. The weird part though is when I disconnect the yellow wire that is spliced to the green/black/grey there seems to be a weird hissing sound coming from the engine bay ,,I think it may be the fuel regulator ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Ignition switch wires
The black wire and the brown wire are "hot all the time" wires that bring battery voltage to the ignition switch. They should have battery voltage on them as long as the battery is properly connected. On the Sepia brand switch they go on terminals 30 (brown) and 30/1 (black)My ignition switch does not have the black wire connected.

Re: Ignition switch wires
I am slowly making progress on my Spider. The ignition switch is a mystery to me as I am trying to figure out all the wiring on it. When the switch is in the "on" position,my fuel pump is making a clicking or pumping sound (from trunk) but there is also a light buzzing sound coming from the engine compartment,,i think its coming from what looks like a square relay that sits beside other relays,,,is this buzzing normal or is there something wrong ? Also, I noticed that when I connected the black wire to the ignition switch, all lights on dash light up even on the off position until I disconnect the battery. What is going on ?

Re: Ignition switch wires
My electronic fuel pump is not shutting off unless I disconnect the battery. Is it ok to connect the pink wire at the ignition switch with the wires for the fuel pump into the same connection. This seems to be my only solution.
