Convertible boot problem
Re: Convertible boot problem
I just found this link at AutoRicambi regarding their boot and hardware.
https://www.autoricambi.us/product/RE5- ... --1968-82/
If you click on the picture and open it up bigger, it shows the curved bow sections that fit on the boot and the latch, the strap that (I think) goes from the top latch to the studs, and the end pieces that hook into the stud on the top.
So the one I have is all jacked up, I guess thats part of the learning curve.

Re: Convertible boot problem
That's all wonky.
1-You should have a plastic piece in both ends of the boot.
2-Then you need these: http://www.international-auto.com/index ... id=1263474 because they go inside your boot and conect to the thing on tabs just in front of the trunk lid.
3-Also those rubber straps you have strapped to the panel all the way back to the trunk area should be applied as Jay just mentioned.
4- lastly, you also neeed to snap the boot to those side panels. there should be a snap there.

Your #2, are you referring to the fish plate (36032 & 36033) as its described in the link?
Re: Convertible boot problem
yep, the fish plate. those are what connects to the trunk tabs
Re: Convertible boot problem
Ok, I think I finally understand how it all goes together and I realize that I need the whole boot, hardware and all. I guess I could figure out what it would cost for the missing pieces.
Thanks to everyone that helped me figure this out. It helps to have all the right pieces to start with.
Thanks again.

Re: Convertible boot problem
Wonky for sure. You need the boot hardware. Two black plastic pieces that hook in to part of the convertible top just behind the door jams. Two C shaped metal pieces that will hold the shape of the boot and hook through the hole in you boot into the hooks on your trunk top.
