Hi Guys,

I was hoping someone would have set of early model spider door latches that bolt to the door jam. See photo below.

if you can't find used, I saw autoricambi added them recently. Maybe other vendors have them too, but I don't know.

Mick,

That B-pillar door catch in your picture looks like one from a 1200/1500 Cabriolet. It appears to be different from the door catch for my 68 124 Spider. Now I'm wondering if the early series Spiders before 1968 (first year imported to USA) used the 1200/1500 Cabriolet catch. I believe FIAT did this kind of thing (part borrowing) when first producing the 124. When you get time, take a look on Chris Oberts fiat plus website http://www.fiatplus.comand look at p/n 0000905070. It looks like what is in your picture. The door catch for my 1968 looks like p/n 0004222579 which was also used on the 850 Spider. Isn't there something about necessity being the mother of invention????

Update

New inner guards with chassis rails (left and right) purchased from Vic's. These will be used to repair the entire front end. Original chassis and shock towers were not worth repairing.

New front fender sourced from Canada. This is an original NOS panel.

With regards to the door catch, I found replacements. Thanks to everyone that responded. I will post more photos soon (rear quarter repair, front end off, etc)

Great progress, I expect my '67 will need a similar birthday treatment sometime soon...Although a costly exercise now you could potently get another 45 years out of her !

Thanks for sharing the great pics , look forward to seeing more soon.

Cheers
John

Realised that the later model spider door catch sit higher than the earlier model.

Image

used the old catch door section

bottom outer seal section prepared

attached and completed
Image

inner rear left quarter cleaned and prepared. All surface rust removed.

Image

Rear left quarter position and welded into place. Door and boot (trunk) gaps are all perfect!!
Image

rear shock tower section finished.
Image

The plan now is to finish the rear right hand side wheel arch and then get started on the complete front end rebuild.
