Re: carb cleaning
I will double check, I have had the car for 39 of the 41 yrs. My original manual says it is a DHS, but I am sure stranger things have happened. Thanks for the heads up. Mik

Wow - that's awesome. Now if you tell me your ignition wires are original I'll tell you where to get a replacement set!

Re: carb cleaning
When i was a young man, I replaced the pistons in the car. After all these years of storage and dragging from home to home, I have lost all confidence and am trying to throw myself back into it. Bringing in for paint job next week , stripping down to metal, good primer 3-4 coats of red and 2 coats of clear coat. really looking forward to learning as much as I can. I have not replaced ignition wires? but if you mean spark plug wires, yes I have. My terminology lacks a lot also. Thanks

Re: carb cleaning
I was just picking on you. You can get the original Cavis (manufacturer) wires if you're into that sort of thing, keeping the car all original.
Sounds like a nice car, send some pre- and post- paintjob pictures!

Re: carb cleaning
located in minnesota, I do still have the original spark plug wires, only changed them out because I like the color blue. posted pics of the work needed to be done, but am excited about what this guy is going to do with this vehicle. He has done a number of show cars and I have talked to people he has done top to bottom restorations on and they are extremely pleased. One was a '55 chev, another car I use to own, to the tune of 30k. I will post after pics, Thanks again

Re: carb cleaning
Don, cudos, your suggestion to put the Chevron product in the tank, did the trick. Not perfect, but I think now it is just an idle adjustment. Vehicle ran much smoother, and was able to idle at 6-700 rpm which I wasn't able to do before. Thanks for your help, and thanks to everyone for their suggestions, I am sure they will come in handy in the future.
