another motor install question

Since there are a few, I have one as well.
I have a 72 comming out of the shop with a 79 front end spliced on. It has the 79 cross member. Should I change it back to the 72 cross member or will the 79 work just fine with the 72(new) motor mounts? I will be putting the 1608 back in the car.

Itll work fine. Your engine will sit a little lower.

I'd keep the 79 x member. If you have the whole 79 front clip, changing to an early x member would require some mods.
