New Owner Introduction
New Owner Introduction
My father was always a true aficionado of Fiat and Alfa Romeo. As a child I worked with him on these cars, but I've been working out of the country the past twenty years so I had very little time with him. He died this past summer and left the cars to me. The one he loved the most was the Pininfarina Spider 1985. He purchased it in 1990 and it was only driven about 10K while he had it. He had Parkinson's and couldn't drive or work on it very much and it fell into disrepair being covered but outside and driven rarely. He always dreamed of having it in show quality to take to the car shows he frequented. Of the ones left me this is the one I think I can fulfill that dream for him. As I said I'm out of the country working as a teacher on an air force base in Germany. I will have the summers to return and work on the car. I don't have his skill or knowledge so I've been reading all I can. This site has been great for learning and I'm preparing my list of repairs for this coming summer.

Great story, Jack. Whether or not your dad's Spider ever wins any trophies, you'll be keeping his spirit alive and honouring his legacy.
While you're in Germany, there's a company there (SpiderPoint) that has several restoration items unavailable anywhere else.
Good luck and keep us posted. How about a photo of the car and the two of you in the "memory lane" thread?

Awesome story! I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Your dad sounded like a great fella with great taste in cars! We look forward to seeing pics of your car and sharing in your restoration.
