Need CARB help!

Post by deriley »

Happy spring everyone, the weather finally dried up here in the NW and I'm finally able to get under the hood. I had a friend rebuild and clean up my weber carb for me. (Claims he knew what he was doing.) Attached everything back on and left (it was raining). Next day I jumped the battery and tried to start it up and saw gas coming out of my charcoal canister. Is my canister wrecked? It was not put back together correctly and now I don't know how to do it. Does anyone have a diagram of which hose get connected to what outlet? I can tell that I'm in for a great summer!
Thanks all!

all of the various years are different, so the year model is critical to get the right diagram. The cannister may recover, but they weren't made to be saturated with fuel

Mark is right!

Although there is a possibility that the fuel cleaned out the canister somewhat, but I don't know if that helps!!.

Let it all dry out, and take a look at how the fuel lines are routed!!

Again, as Mark says, the year is critical, but make sure the only place the fuel is going is from the tank to the carb, and back to the tank when the fuel pump is on.

Post the year, and I'll put up some pics of mine if that will help. Mine is a 75

I'd also have some real concerns about anyone that routed a fuel line to the cannister and whether any of the repairs were done properly

I have some real concerns also, the carb is the only thing he's worked on! It's a 79 spider. with a 28/32 ADHA carb. I hope this helps.
thanks
