Just purchased a 1978 spider. I don't know anything about this car but I know I liked it the first time I saw it. It needs work but it runs. As my son said the first time he saw it. Classic!

Hey Tomi - Welcome. You will find this site is a very valuable resource for pretty much everything Fiat. The folks here are incredibly knowledgable and helpful.
Where are you located?? And it's always nice to see some pics of your Fiat.

Thanks Courtenay, i'm here in N.J. and looking forward to the spring to get the top down and put some miles on the car. This club looks like a great place to get help with problems. I used International Auto Parts for a few parts already. I will get some pics up asap.

Welcome! Congrats these are fun cars! Mine is a 78 as well. There seems to be several members from your area so that's a good thing! Safety first. Check for rust on the shock towers behind the front wheels check for excessive rust, which can be dangerous. Do you have the maintenance records on the car? If not all the under hood rubber should be changed, starting with the timing belt. This forum is a wonderful source for information. Good luck!
1978 Spyder 1800 make that 2L! Finally making real progress!

Hi Tom,
You are correct. Have you checked NJFIATS.ORG yet? Where are you located in NJ? This is a great site and we have a pretty good group here in New jersey. This Sat we are disassembling a Turbo Spider for parts. George

Hi Tomi,
Wecome. There are a bunch of us NJ guys enjoying our Spiders. Hope you can join in.
I'll be at George's tomorrow, if my Bride's list isn't too long, and if its not too cold.
A few of us took our Fiat's out last Saturday for a fun run. Brisk but nice. Unfortunately last night's dusting of snow down our way brought out the salt trucks, so that might be it for the winter.

Hi Tom,
We did go out last week. Some with tops down and others with tops up .
If your available stop over around noon for a spider disassembly party. PM me your location so we have an idea where you are at in NJ. If it's dry which it should be bring your spider. Also bring a list of any problems and if you need any a list of parts you need. We might have what you need. George

Hey guys, thanks for the invite. I am in Chatham out in Morris county. Some of the things I am looking into for my car are tires.I am considering new rims but the more I look into it the more confusing it gets. I am thinking if I get new tires maybe I should get 14 or 15 rims instead of the 13 that are on the car now. What tires and rims to you all have? I don't have a radio. Missing the sound proofing under the hood, just to name a few. No rush for me, I think the car is beautiful and it's a work in progress. Oh, and missing the chrome trim piece just below the door.

Hi Tom,
I have 15 inch Rota's and 15 inch Panasports. Rota's are a good deal. There is a guy named Joe on Craigs list in NY that has a set of mint ( his description) 15 inch Panasports rims with Perelli tires. He wants $900.00. Seems a little high to me.
Mark Allison sell's the Rota's. Really nice rims at a good price.. PM me your email and I'll send you pics. George
