79 2000 flywheel removal

Any suggestions on the best way to break loose the bolts holding the flywheel on?

The manual says to put a clutch plate bolt back in and brace a screwdriver against the bolt and lodged thes screwdriver blade into one of the teeth of the flywheel. Doesn't sound like a good idea?

Its fine to use that method.
Use a wide enough screw driver blade and make sure whoever is holding it for you pushes it in hard enough that it wont slip and go ahead undo the bolts, in a crosswise sequence.

Hi,
I wrap a piece of old seat belt around the flywheel and then wrap it around a bolt. As you start to loosen the flywheel bolt the belt tightens up with enough torque to loosen it, This works to install it also. Make sure the flywheel mark is aligned to the crankshaft TDC position before installing.

A friend mentioned using a chain wrench on the front crankshaft pulley to hold the crankshaft in place then breaking the bolts loose?

Any thoughts on trying this?
