79 2000 just curious

Post by barnesjtsl »

I found that my small hose from the large hose that comes from the vapor separator was disconnected from the control valve on/in the carburetor. I made an earlier post about where the control valve on the carburetor is located. Didn't get any answers, but I found the connection on the carb by looking at the length and curve of the the hose and found the only place it could go.

I connected the small hose about a week ago. My spider has always ran pretty well, but it seems to be running better/smoother and I don't have near the fume smell inside the car any more.

Just curious if someone could elaborate on exactly what the vapor separator does, how it works and if connecting that little hose can really make the differences I just described or am I just dreaming?

Thanks,

what you're describing is the crankcase ventilation system. The separator merely keeps liquid from being pushed up into the air cleaner. The small vacuum hose is a calibrated vacuum source that applies increasing vacuum as the throttle is opened
