Heater Core Insulation Foam?
Heater Core Insulation Foam?
I noticed on my old heater core it had insulation/weatherstripping around its sides. I'm installing my new heater core and was wondering what kind of weatherstripping to use. Thx.

I'm wondering if you can use the foam tape auto bodyshops use to seal doors when they're getting ready to paint.

The foam weather stripping for doors from Home Depot worked for me. Just match some of the old stuff up with the right size in the store.

I know Sears Hardware around the corner has the foam insulation tape with the adhesive backing. Just wondering if I need something that's heat resistant.Foster48x wrote:The foam weather stripping for doors from Home Depot worked for me. Do not need heat resistant. Whatever you buy at hardware store will work.

I haven't had any problems with it so far.Fiat88 wrote:I know Sears Hardware around the corner has the foam insulation tape with the adhesive backing. Went to Sears and got this Rubber Foam Weatherseal Self Stick Tape made by Frost King 3/4" wide, 7/16", 10' Long Thick. Was going to install the heater core today but Macy's where I work needed me to help set up for Black Friday. Hopefully on saturday I'll get to it!
