I, too have now had a new-to-me spider for about a month, and it has yet to start. It has a new battery, and there are new fuses and a new fuel pump ready to go, waiting for me at home. There's a lot to do to get an old car up and running well and safely, and, at least for me, not enough available time to accomplish it all quickly. So, slow it will be.

Wahoo! Payday. So i will definitely get a new magnetic pickup (any preference between IAP and Auto Ricambi?) and get that installed ASAP. Thanks mdrburchette for the input. You are right too, the gap between the pickup and stator is 0.024" or .5 to .6 mm. This forum is really incredible. In my spare time i have been reading as much as i can about anything and everything related to my car. In my opinion, people on this site could tell me way more about Valentina than any mechanic i might ever take her to.

Another question. Is there any way the Ignition module could have fried when the coil wire melted together? Would that be causing it to buck and gallop at idle? I feel bad cause i'm not able to work on it very much, I'm just trying to glean as much wisdom as possible from ye all knowing gurus. Thanks In advance!
