Carb secondary not working?

The car has very little pickup even when I floor it. I pulled the air cleaner off and with the car not running I opened the throttle linkage all the way and I only see gas squirting down the primary. I do see the secondary butterfly start to open after about 1/2 throttle and fully open at full throttle but I don't see any squirt of gas? Thoughts?

There is no accelerator pump for the secondaries and thus no "squirt" into the secondaries.

So how do you check to see if the secondary is working?

If yoiu can see the throttle plate opening that is all you really need to see.

Ok, I'm guessing gas will feed it at some point from a second gas line and jet? How would you know if it's clogged?

For the most part, secondary jets never clog. If you really wanted to, you could watch down inside secondary with engine running and go full throttle. Is going to rev like mad and you should see fuel get pulled out of secondary venturi. However, I WOULD NOT DO THIS, why bother, rest assured, the secondary jet is not plugged. Look elsewhere

i found most carb problems are float related-- too low too high stuck blocked or fuel filter--

Are your spark plugs, ignition wires and distributor in good shape? Is the gas fresh and clean? Eliminate the simple remedies first. Good luck, JimmyG

I see lots of them with secondary throttle plates stuck closed, never have seen a plugged secondary jet unless the car sat for years and the carb gummed up
