Well all, I finally got around to finishing the dismantling of my parts-car, so I could get the covered parking back for my daughter before snow flies.
I bought this '79 "with original motor" for the 2L motor to build over this winter.
But according to what I find here: http://www.mirafiori.com/faq/fiatcarb_july2004.pdf.... it's not a 2L. Casting #'s above the filter read 132A1.031.5, which makes it an 1800.
So now I'm faced with a decision: Do I look around some more for a 2L, or do I build the 1800.
I really, really wanted to build the 2L. can anyone weigh-in with an opinion why I should just build the 1800? 'cuz that's what my wife says I should do
anyone got a spare 2L they want to sell . . . cheap. ?
the 2L build that ... isn't.

I dont think youll really notice any power gains between the 2 once your done. Hell my stock 1800 revs through the gears almost as fast as I can shift anyways with the gearing these things have.

Probably not as cheap as you want and you'll have a little freight but you'll have a transmission as a spare or to sell and lower the cost.

I'd choose the 2L every time for a street motor. It's easy to get gobs of torque with the big motors

yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. So Cal Mark wrote:I'd choose the 2L every time for a street motor. It's easy to get gobs of torque with the big motors
I'll be on the search then. There are a couple guys on this forum with 2L's for sale, but none in my neck of the woods. I'm looking into freight, but the cost of freight, plus their time crating.... it'd be nice to find one closer to me, within a day's driving distance.

First of all. If the wife says use the 1800. Then you better go out and find a 2.0 and just tell her its the 1800. That way you can, not listen to her and have a 2 liter at the same time and she will think she won the battle
