Hello,
I've put a header on my 77 spider from Vicks, It generally runs well but has a stumble when I "punch" it, runs pretty well otherwise. I figure I need different jetting, the car really runs up to redline now. I don't know, but its pretty likely that I have stock jetting. If this is the problem, anyone have suggestions on what I should change the jets too? Saving for a 32/34 DFEV carb so I will eventually changing the carb so I'm curious about proper jetting for that carb as well.
Hoping other folks have gone through the jet experimentation already.
Thanks in advance.

Stumbling under accel/Carbed
Re: Stumbling under accel/Carbed
In 99.9 % of the cases, the stock jetting will work wonderfully, leave it alone IMHO. It is not your problem.
Slight stumble, is this new since the header was put on??
How much stumble are we talking about?? Carb will never have quite the snap of FI.
Accel diaphram can fail, and discharge nozzle can plug, any debris in nozzle and it will not spray correctly.

Re: Stumbling under accel/Carbed
I had a major vacumn leak through the EGR and it was running pretty badly before the tune-up/header. Its hard to compare before and after, because its running much better. I had a major fuel leak, recent changes are:
- New fuel lines, rear bulkhead forward.
- New fuel filter
- Plugs/Dist Cap/Wires/Rotor
- Header
I don't have a fuel pressure gauge to check that. Maybe its just a gummed up carb like you mention. Since I plan on a 32/34 upgrade, perhaps I'm better saving for my new carb and living with the current carb for now....
The header made a big difference, will the 32/34 DFEV (think thats the right desig) carb provide a noticeable performance improvement?
Thanks

Re: Stumbling under accel/Carbed
Bump.
I saw a recent post WRT to clogged fuel filters. I replace the engine compartment filter, there appears to be another filter. Is this in the trunk? Is it a standard filter?
Thanks

Re: Stumbling under accel/Carbed
I looked in the manual, in 77 there appears to be two fuel configurations. The fuel line from the tank, goes to a what I think is a fuel pump on the engine. From there it goes through a filter to the carb. Are there any other filters?
Thanks
