So I have an 82 Spider 2000 FI and the other night i noticed the temp gauge starting to get close to the red while it was idling for a bit. I could also smell a little coolant. So I shut it off and opened the hood. I'm assuming the expansion tank is the tank closest to the firewall with coolant in it but I also have another tank with coolant up by the radiator. That one had a chip out of it on the side and it looked like some coolant had drained down so I'm assuming that's the source of the coolant smell.
Radiator is full and so is the tank by the firewall. The front tank is only about 1/3 full because of the chip. To be honest, I've never seen a car with 2 expansion tanks. Is that what this is up front? It might be a dumb question and I'm definitely not a car expert... just trying to understand whats going on under this hood. Thanks guys...
2 Coolant Expansion Tanks on 82 Spider 2000?
Re: 2 Coolant Expansion Tanks on 82 Spider 2000?
Holy Heck! Are you serious?! So some genius before me filled the windshield washer reservoir with antifreeze. Well, I'm glad I haven't used that feature yet. Thanks, Mark. Is there an easy way to drain that sucker or should I just pull it off and empty it out? Ahhhh, ya know, forget it... I'll figure it out. Thanks again-
