Fancying up the engine?

Post by AllyCat555 »

My engine is all dirty and ugly! I tried to clean it but it remains looking old, I'm thining of maybe making it look like show car engines with all the shiny parts and stuff that dress it up. I'm sure new wires and stuff would help with the "clean" look but what do you guys think and suggest? Does anyone have pictures of there fiats engine all cleaned up that you could share? Thank you. :D

You can do a lot by pulling stuff off the fender wells and cleaning each piece separately, along with the wiring harnesses. A toothbrush, Greased Lightening and water were what I used. Spray paint can also make components look better, like relays, horns, etc. You can also take the cam covers off and clean them up...just remember to order new gaskets. Here's a pic of my engine bay:

Razooli, what type of engine is in your fiat? It looks really good. Did you just take everything out and clean the parts, what was your method? I really the the first picture posted on this page too- that's the type of engine I have in my fiat but not as clean. Did any of you do chrome coating of the parts?

That's just a stock 2L fuel injected engine that Fiat started using in 1980. I'm cleaning everything piece by piece and no chrome... all polished aluminum.

All polished aluminum on mine too, except for the ceramic coated header.
