Engine Dimensions

Post by halg »

Fiat manuals and other manuals have a very good listing of diametrical sizes, and clearamces required for the TC engine. Does anyone know where other linear dimensions(deck height, rod length, pin placement)etc. might be found. If not in a printed format has anyone compiled these dimensions for the different engines 1438,1608, 1592, 1756, and 1995?

Hal,
I could come up with some of the data you mentioned, from my own measuements, for the 1438, 1608, and 1756cc engines, but it would take some digging. I'll wait to see if someone else has the table of info before I tackle searching through my disorganized notes.

Hi Hal,
I have an original Fiat Spider service manual that covers models made from 1975-1982. I was surprised that I could not find some of the information you seek. Is this one of the manuals that you checked? I also checked my haynes manual too... same if not worse...have you checked on http://www.turbo124.com? I haven't check that forum out in four five years but it appears to be up and still functioning.

Good luck to you on your quest! :)

Here you go. AFAIK these are correct. Dimensions with asterisks I have not verified. The numbers in the parenthesis are the casting numbers found on the crankshafts, rods, and blocks. Piston information is by far the most confusing because it is the hardest to measure and pistons can be swapped between many engines. Here's a link to the full pdf: Fiat DOHC Engine Dimensions
