Hi all. Just thought I would say hello. I have two 81 spiders. One in very nice shape with power windows and air. Before I bought it this car was vandalized, they smashed the intake and one of the cam covers as well as cutting out the ecm and smashing the tale lights from the inside of the trunk. The other car is a runner and a turbo car minus all the turbo stuff. It is rusty and run down. I plan to put the turbo motor in the other car and strip and scrap the turbo car. It just is not worth restoring. I have driven Fiats for almost 20 years, I helped my brother restore one and he and I have had several since than. I am A car restorer, currently I am restoring two amc cars. One is 1974 Javelin amx 401 auto and the other one is a very rare 1969 amc sc/rambler. Both for the same owner. Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick,
Welcome to the forum. I remember those AMC cars. Sounds like you know what your doing. It's a shame people vandalize. At least you have two to choose from. Since your seasoned. How long do you think it will take you to complete the spider? If you find you need something. Let us all know. I'm sure someone will have it lying around. You'll have to show us some pic's when you get started.

Power windows would be great although I have only driven car with windows up once. My 82 was equipped with AC but I removed unit from inside and will soon remove everything from under the hood. Where are you located? Photos please!

Welcome Rick! A professional car restorer? I bet you have stories to tell. I owned a 66 Rambler 440 back in my youth. I actually sold my 68 Fiat Spider for the thing....those were hard times. Being in AZ, that a/c sure comes in handy too, doesn't it?

Re: newbie
Thanks for the welcome. I talked Joe Serra yesterday, he says he still has a few spider turbo kits left. He quoted me $1800.00 for the kit. That's a little steep for me. I may try and find a turbo manifold and do the rest myself.I'm not sure how long it will take to finish the car as it will be a week end deal. But I will probably paint the engine bay first as it was not painted when they did the color change. Anyone out there have a manifold they want to sell? How do I load pics? Thanks,Rick
