will a 1608 hook up to all compnents in a 69. i belive there a 1438 in it now. and does any one have or know a great book on the specs for over hauling a 1608. or does any one know of one already over hauled

Yes a 1608 will transfer directly with no issues. You will need to get new plug wires due to the placement of the distributor, though you could use the 1438 dizzy, which might be better anyway.
