Hello,
Sorry for the flood of questions.....
I was surprised by the amount of smog stuff for my 77 spider. Are there any guides to how to de-smog a motor?
Thanks

To be honest I don't know that there is a single guide, I suspect a general search will have most of the bits but not all in one place. Where do you live? Are you exempt from any emissions testing?
If you are really going to do this, there are some additional things you may want to think about. The carb on a your car is less than ideal and you may want to replace it with a different model. If you haven't already you should also change to an electronic ignition.
You can remove all of the EGR system, pump, piping, ports that will need to be filled in the head, exhaust manifold, down pipe and a variety of different ancillary hoses and a few electrical components.
So if you are removing all of it and making some upgrades, you could be the one to document and create the guide for removing all of the emissions.

Re: De Smog?
I'm going to do this Thursday, with help I hope. I'll take some pics along the way and see what I can put together.
Re: De Smog?
Thanks folks.
I followed the air pump hose. It connects to plumbing on top of the motor, into a some sort of air distributor then two metal hoses into the head. This must be the part that cools off the exhaust valves as I read from Mark in another post.
I would imagine just removing the air pump belt would be good for a bit of extra hp from belt/pumping losses. I have heard that you cannot remove the pump entirely without making sure bolts are put back, something about oil jounals.
Ultimately, I'm not looking for hp (yet), I would like to simplify things. Going point-less would be a great suggestion too, thanks.
I will be snooping for any additional details.
