I think I found the source of the odor. I smell it around the fuel injector filter and hoses, around that area. All the hose clamps are secured. Assuming it's a bad hose, how does one find it?

Thanks

not to sound like a smart aleck, but, if one hose you think is bad, aren't the rest the same relative age?

rubber hose is cheap. replace 'em all.

Mike,

You're correct. I'll replace all the hoses.

My hoses have a mesh/cloth insulation. Do I need the mesh/cloth insulation?

Hose Size?:
1) What's the hose size from the gas line to the fuel pressure regulator?
2) What's the hose size from the fuel regulator to the intake manifold?
3) What's the hose size from the intake manifold to the gas vapor filter?
4) The return hose to the gas line. I don't know how to remove the end of the hose which is at the welded end. Do you know the size?

Am I missing any other hoses that I should replace?

Does the gas vapor filter need any type of service or replacement?

Can I buy hoses at a regular auto parts store or do I need to order it from IAP or other Fiat distributor?

Excuse me if my descriptions are inaccurate. A lot of this car stuff is Greek to me. But, I'm learning a lot from you guys.

Thanks,
Clint

Clint,

I cannot speak specifically for FI hoses, but any parts store will gladly look at a sample of hose you bring in and give you the correct rubber hose size to take back home. Just tell them how many feet you want of each size. It is sold by the foot.

I personally like to get a handful of new hose clamps at the same time...especially if you have OEM clamps still in place. Reuse of 30 year old clamps is an iffy proposition.

No, straight black rubber fuel line hose is ok. Cloth braided hose, if you can find it will be more expensive.

Personally, i'd replace EVERY fuel line hose while you're there. that way, you'll never need to wonder if you replaced all of the correct ones. then, they will outlast your enjoyment of your Spider.

Howdy,

The intake manifold has 2 ports for vacuum hoses. One port has one connection and the other has 2 connections.

Does it matter which port is connected to the gas vapor filter and which one is connected to the fuel pressure regulator?

On the port with 2 connections, one hose is connected to a round bass thing. What is that?

Thanks,
Clint
