I think I'm missing something. Under the dash, by the clutch pedal, there are two purple wires going to a "current recepticle" that is mounted very close to the steering column. It is clear plastic, and looks like a light bulb holder. I vaguely remember my other 78 had an amber light down there, but that was years ago.
Does anybody know what a "current recepticle" is and what exactly goes in there. Can I just connect the two wires together that lead to it?
Thanks
Matt

My understanding is that this was the precursor to a 12V lighter socket which has become the standard for car accessory power. I believe it was fitted to potentially plug in a 12V light or similar other item when the car was stationary. I would certainly not recommend joining them together, but they may provide a useful power supply for an aftermarket accessory eg voltmeter or similar.
