I decided to tackle my first Timing Belt change yesterday. Things are going well, I think it was good to do. I do have one question though. I decided to replace the tensioner pulley while I have it apart, so I got the new one with the rims on the sides. Took out the old tensioner pulley, pushed in the new one and I'm a little stumped on how this thing works. I can't see how to adjust the tension.
I started to tighten the bolt in the center of the pulley, and noticed that the washer is not centered on the pulley, so I pushed the pulley to where it was centered and tightened it down. This caused the belt to be too loose. I loosened the pulley bolt and the belt tightened right up, but now the pulley is off-center from the bolt. I hope this makes sense!
This doesn't look right to me. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Doug

Ok, just to be sure, here's a picture...kmead wrote:Nothing. Its as it should be.
Not sure why the image is rotated, but maybe you still get the idea. See how it's off center from the washer on the bolt?
