I recently downloaded a 78 wiring manual from the spidercenter website.
It has all the diagrams, but it does not have the two pages that contain the component index and the connector code. I have a few questionable connnections. I'm trying to get it wired correctly, the PO had a lot of splices and re routing.
If anybody has thes two pages from an official factory service manual, could you please post them. I don't want to go back to spidercenter, because the posts are few and far between , and I'd like a reply within the next 6 months.

Well its still not back on the road. I turned my attention to the ignition system. I realized something must have been wired wrong when I could'nt get the coil to fire a spark, and when I tried some electrical testing procedures it said the coil was bad, well I tried my existing coil and a new one. Test procedures said bad coil. I knew the new coil could not be bad. I also hooked the dual points back up.
Anyway to make a long story longer while I was tracing the wiring back from the ignition components, I noticed some splices and re-routing from the previous owner. I want to make shure all the wiring is the way its supposed to be. Even the most mundane items like the radio or courtesy light are sometimes wired into the ignition mode relay.
The problems that I'm having now are with connector C24, C34, C32, C25, C27. But mostly C24, depending on what diagram you look at it has a white wire with a black stripe comming out of it, in some instances two of these wires. In some instances the wire goes to a ground, in others it goes to the courtesy light.
Also I can't figure what component C50 is I've tried tracing wires leading to it.
Do you have a 78 official fiat factory service manual?

Well I just called IAP, asked them how many pages is the wiring diagram for the 78, 8 pages, same as download, no indexes. Then they looked through a 78 factory service manual, and still no indexes. I have the diagrams and indexes for 79 and later, not shure about indexes for earlier years. I guess they don't exist. GREAT!!!

Hi Matt, sorry to hear your still havin problems. Without a diagram, I would have to think that all the dist needs is a good 12v power source from the ignition system (wires may be bad at connector under steering colum as mine were), a good ground to battery, and the wires associated with the points or inductive pick up. You can always test straight from the battery for power and ground. Use a fused jumper wire so that Mike does not get nervous! Im also thinkin that if the engine had a poor ground it could cause strange problems. Many of us have added extra eng to body wires. Hang in there! An ign relay would recive ign 12v, have good ground, a fused 12v source, the 12v goin to coil when ign 12v is recieved. That wire in the dash sounds like a shared ground wire, and I wonder if you found the delay box for the wipers. I use a old testlite to test power and ground circuts. a good way to test a circut is to use both filaments in a 1157 bulb to load the circut, or do a voltage drop test,basically the same thing. good luck!
CHECK that connection on the wire that runs between the coil and the ignition switch.
I found on my '80 that merely changing the female spade connector on the wire at the coil solved a recurring intermittent loss of juice to the coil.
I suffered for years, being forced to the side of the road once or twice per season, until i found this little connector that loosened up with heat. Course, never found it when the engine was cool and under test procedures.

That was one of the first things I did a few weeks ago. I just checked for continuity in the line last night. Put a 9volt pattery at one end and a multimeter at the other and connected the loop. Tonight I'll check the voltage and continuity with the key in the ignition and the battery voltage applied. I remember a test procedure like this from one of my books that involves a test light, and jiggling the key to see if the light flickers.
I got everything traced back to their proper connections. It should be wired correctly now. I found that C50 is a switch for a power antenna.
And when I put my CD player in, I'll have the radio wires ready.
I did find something that I'm missing. Under the dash, by the clutch pedal, there are two purple wires going to a "current recepticle" that is mounted very close to the steering column. It is clear plastic, and looks like a light bulb holder. I remember my other 78 had an amber light down there, but that was years ago and I didn't know much about the car then.
Does anybody know what a "current recepticle" is and what exactly goes in there. Can I just connect the two wires together that lead to it?
